CoinFlip Bitcoin ATMs are a great way to convert your cash into crypto safely and securely. But did you know that some of our ATMs also allow you a fast and easy way to sell cryptocurrency for cash?

In this article, we’ll cover:

  • The entire process of selling your crypto for cash at a CoinFlip Bitcoin ATM

  • Which coins can be sold (U.S.: BTC, LTC – AUS: BTC, LTC, ETH)

  • How to find a “sell” ATM

  • What fees to expect and other useful details

How to Find a Bitcoin ATM

First, you need to find one! Just type your address or zip code into our ATM locator and you’ll get matches for the 10 nearest locations. To find an ATM where you can sell your cryptocurrency, make sure you check the box marked “Sell” under the search bar. Look for the purple markers on the map, as they indicate these locations.

How to Start Selling at CoinFlip

When you arrive at the ATM, you’ll be prompted to select which cryptocurrency you’d like to sell. Coins you can sell vary country-to-country.

In the US, you can only sell Bitcoin or Litecoin at a CoinFlip Bitcoin ATM. In Australia, you can sell Ethereum too.

Next, the ATM will present you CoinFlip’s Terms of Service, which you can find online here. You will also see a warning against participating in any scams.

All crypto transactions are final and irreversible, even if they happen to be fraudulent. Make sure you carefully read over the Terms of Service and stay vigilant.

What You Need to Know About Sell Limits

Once you’ve accepted the Terms of Service, you’ll be asked to select how much crypto you’d like to sell. You’ll be presented with two options:

  1. Up to $960

  2. More than $960

If you select “Up to $960,” you’ll be prompted to input your name and date of birth, as well as your phone number. You’ll receive a One Time Passcode sent to your phone by text to verify your phone number, and then you’ll be able to transact.

If you select “More than $960,” the ATM will still ask for your name, birth date and phone number, and you’ll still need to enter the One Time Passcode to move forward. It will also send a link to your phone via a separate text message. This link will take you to our identity verification partner Veriff.

Follow the prompts on the Veriff website, which will include taking photos of the front and back of your valid, government-issued photo ID, as well as a selfie. When you finish, you’ll be notified if your Registration is complete, or if further information is required. You may be prompted to call our Customer Support team to complete your Registration.

(HOT TIP! You can actually Pre-Register your account from the comfort of your own home on our website here. You’ll even receive a discount code for 30% off your transaction fees once you finish!)

After registration, you’ll have a daily transaction limit of $2995.00*, and you’ll be ready to sell at the ATM.

*Please note limits can vary by location. If you have any questions, please call our 24/7 Customer Support team at 877-757-2646.

How to Get Your Cash

  1. Specify the amount of cash you’d like to withdraw from the ATM and click “Sell.”

  2. The ATM’s QR code will appear on screen, along with the specific amount of crypto you will need to send to cover your withdrawal. If you miss the chance to scan the QR code onscreen, no worries! You’ll also receive a text message with the ATM’s wallet address and amount of crypto to send.

  3. Scan this QR code with your crypto wallet and use the “Send” function to send the exact amount of crypto specified. It’s important to check the settings in your wallet, and make sure you’re not sending an amount in US dollars. This could lead to under - or over-selling to the ATM and will cause an error, halting the transaction.

Also, while you don’t need to rush, there is a 45-minute time limit to finish the transaction, so it is important to send your crypto during this window of time.

  4. After you send the required amount of crypto to the ATM’s wallet, wait for a text message confirming your funds are ready for withdrawal. It may take a few minutes, as the crypto you send needs to be confirmed on the blockchain before you can withdraw. When you receive the text, select the “Redeem” option on the ATM and re-verify your phone number.

  5. Then all you have to do is confirm your transaction and collect your cash! You’ll receive a receipt on your phone by text message. If you do not receive a receipt, you can request one by calling our Customer Support team.

Fee Explanation

Fees for selling at CoinFlip Bitcoin ATM can vary by location but are generally around 5%. All fees will be displayed in the price of the cryptocurrency being sold. If you have a discount code, the discount will be subtracted from your transaction fees.

In Australia, where you can sell Ether, you will also have to pay Ethereum gas fees to support the network. Learn more about gas for the Ethereum network here.

That's It!

It may seem like a lot, but breaking the process down should hopefully reinforce just how easy it is to sell crypto for cash at a CoinFlip Bitcoin ATM. And if you have any trouble at all, our Customer Support team is available 24/7 by phone, email or chat
