CoinFlip applauds the recent decision by New Zealand's government to move forward with regulation of cryptocurrency ATMs rather than implementing an outright ban. After more than a year of thorough deliberation, Cabinet concluded that a more flexible, evidence-based approach was available. We appreciate and acknowledge the government's commitment to financial inclusion and innovation in reaching that conclusion.

As Associate Justice Minister Nicole McKee said: "Banning something is a serious decision that should not be taken lightly." Her ministry recognized that crypto ATMs serve legitimate purposes for cash-reliant New Zealanders seeking access to virtual assets.

We commend that New Zealand's government chose to build a framework that can respond to risk directly, while preserving room for legitimate business, investment, and personal choice, and look forward to engaging with New Zealand officials as they build out the details of this new regulatory framework.

CoinFlip remains committed to working constructively with governments that recognize innovation and consumer protection can go hand in hand, and we're glad to see New Zealand take that approach.
